Crochet Amigurumi Fish Keychain

The pattern includes easy-to-follow rounds, color changes, and a simple joining technique to shape the body and tail. Materials

  • Yarn: Small Poly Yarn (Polyester or similar)
  • Hook: Size 3 (Tulip)
  • Accessories: Doll eyes, Glue gun, Stitch marker
  • Colors: Main Color (MC) – Green, Contrasting Color (CC) – Pink

Body Pattern (Starting with Main Color)

  • Start with MC and make a Magic Ring.
  • Ch 2, then work 8 DC into the ring.
  • Sl st to the first DC to close the round.
  • Ch 2.

  • Work 2 DC in every stitch around.
  • Sl st to the first DC to close the round. (16 DC)
  • Change to CC. Ch 1.
  • Work 1 SC in every stitch around.
  • Close with a back loop slip stitch. (16 SC)
  • Change to MC. Ch 2.
  • Working in BLO: [1 DC in the next stitch, 2 DC in the next stitch] repeat around.
  • Sl st to close. Ch 1. (24 DC)

Joining the Mouth

  • Fold the piece flat so the Ch 1 is at one of the corners.
  • Working through both layers, join the edge with 4 SC.
  • On the 4th SC, change to CC and Ch 1.

Creating the Tail Fin (With Contrasting Color)

  • In the next stitch, work 3 Treble Crochet (TC). Ch 1, Sl st to the top of the last TC.
  • In the next stitch, work 1 TC, Ch 3, Sl st into the same stitch.
  • In the next stitch, work 1 TC, Ch 3, Sl st to the top of the TC.
  • In the next stitch, work 3 TC, Ch 3, Sl st into the same stitch.

  • Change to MC with a Sl st.

Finishing and Assembly

  • Leave the CC yarn hanging outside.
  • With MC, join the remaining open edges of the body with 4 SC.
  • Cut the MC yarn, leaving a long tail for the keychain hanger.
  • Weave in the CC yarn from the tail fin.

  • Use the MC tail to create a keychain loop or hanger at the top corner of the fish.
  • Secure with a knot and weave in ends.
  • Attach the doll eyes to the side of the head using a glue gun.
