Materials

  • Yarn: Yellow (petals), Green (leaves/stem), Brown and Orange (pollen/stamens)
  • Hook: 1.20 mm
  • Wire: Thin (for petals/leaves/pollen), Thick (for stem)
  • Tools: Stitch marker, scissors, glue

Petals (Make 6)

  • Make a slip knot and chain 20.
  • Place a stitch marker in the 20th chain.
  • Skip the marked chain, work 1 SC in next stitch.

  • Work 1 HDC in next 2 stitches.
  • Work 1 DC in next 10 stitches.
  • Work 1 EHDC in next stitch.
  • Work 1 HDC in next 3 stitches.
  • Work 1 SC in next stitch.
  • In the last stitch, work 1 SC, Ch 1, 1 SC (corner).
  • Place stitch marker in the Ch 1 space (center of petal).
  • On the opposite side, work 1 SC, 3 HDC, 1 EHDC, 10 DC, 2 HDC, 1 SC.

Round 2 – With Wire

  • Remove marker and work 1 SC in center space.
  • Place thin wire along petal edge.
  • Ch 1, then 1 SC in same stitch.
  • Continue working over wire: 1 SC, 2 HDC, 1 DC inc, 1 DC, 1 DC inc, 6 DC, 1 EHDC, 3 HDC, 3 SC.

  • At corner, work 1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 SC.
  • Continue second side: 3 SC, 3 HDC, 1 EHDC, 6 DC, 1 DC inc, 1 DC, 1 DC inc, 2 HDC, 1 SC.
  • Slip stitch to Ch 1 space, cut yarn, twist wires, and secure base.

Pollen/Stamens (Make 5)

  • Fold thin wire to make a loop.
  • Wrap brown yarn tightly around wire for 0.5 cm.
  • Fold and flatten wrapped part.
  • Twist below the brown section.
  • Wrap orange yarn around wire for 3–3.5 inches.
  • Twist and cut excess yarn.

Leaf (Make 1–2)

  • Make slip knot and chain 23.
  • Skip last chain, work 1 SC, 2 HDC, 12 DC, 1 EHDC, 3 HDC, 2 SC.
  • In last stitch, work 1 SC, Ch 1, 1 SC (corner).
  • Work down opposite side: 2 SC, 3 HDC, 1 EHDC, 12 DC, 2 HDC, 1 SC.

With Wire

  • Remove marker and work 1 SC in Ch 1 space.
  • Place wire along edge.
  • Ch 1, then 1 SC in same stitch.
  • Work over wire: 1 SC, 2 HDC, 1 EHDC, 2 DC inc, 8 DC, 1 EHDC, 4 HDC, 3 SC.
  • At corner, work 1 SC, picot (Ch 2, SC in same stitch), 1 SC.
  • Down second side: 3 SC, 4 HDC, 1 EHDC, 8 DC, 2 DC inc, 1 EHDC, 2 HDC, 1 SC.
  • Slip stitch to Ch 1 space, cut yarn, twist wires, and secure base.

Assembly

  • Gather 5 pollen pieces and place thick wire at the center.
  • Wrap green yarn tightly to secure them together.
  • Attach 3 petals evenly around pollen for the first layer.
  • Attach remaining 3 petals in between the gaps for the second layer.

  • Wrap green yarn down the stem.
  • Attach the leaf to the stem and continue wrapping down.
  • Wrap back up about 1 inch, apply glue, and let dry.
  • Cut excess yarn and gently shape petals and pollen to finish the lily.
