Crochet Strawberry Keychain

It’s a quick project that uses small amounts of yarn, perfect for using up scraps while adding charm to your bag or keys. You can also customize the colors for a pastel, vibrant, or realistic strawberry look!

Materials

  • Yarn: Red or Pink (Strawberry), Yellow (Flower), Green (Calyx/Leaves)
  • Hook: Size No. 3 Tulip (approx. 2.20-2.30mm)
  • Stuffing: Dacron
  • Tools: Stitch marker, tapestry needle, hot glue gun, keychain ring

Strawberry Body (Red/Pink Yarn)

  • Make a magic ring and crochet 8 single crochets (SC).
  • Round 2: (1 SC, increase) repeat 4 times. (12 SC)
  • Round 3: (2 SC, increase) repeat 4 times. (16 SC)
  • Round 4: (3 SC, increase) repeat 4 times. (20 SC)
  • Round 5: (4 SC, increase) repeat 4 times. (24 SC)
  • Round 6–9: SC around for 4 rounds. (24 SC)

  • Round 10: (2 SC, decrease) repeat 6 times. (18 SC)
  • Round 11: (1 SC, decrease) repeat 6 times. (12 SC)
  • Stuff the strawberry firmly with dacron.
  • Round 12: Decrease in each stitch around. (6 SC)
  • Slip stitch to close, fasten off, and weave in the yarn end.

Flower (Yellow Yarn)

  • Make a magic ring.
  • Petal 1: Chain 2, 1 double crochet (DC) in the ring, chain 1, slip stitch to DC top, 1 DC in the ring, chain 2, slip stitch in the ring.

  • Repeat this process five times to make 5 petals.
  • Slip stitch to the back to secure the end.
  • Chain 7 to make the keychain loop.
  • Attach the loop to the keychain ring with a slip stitch.
  • Slip stitch back down the chain and fasten off.

Calyx or Leaves (Green Yarn)

  • Make a magic ring.
  • Leaf 1: 1 SC in the ring, chain 5, slip stitch in the 4th chain from the hook, then in the next 3 chains.

 

  • Repeat for a total of 6 leaves.
  • Slip stitch to the first SC to close.
  • Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

  • Weave in remaining yarn ends on the strawberry body.
  • Use the green tail to sew the base of the flower’s chain loop to the calyx center.

  • Trim and secure yarn ends.
  • Apply hot glue to the underside of the flower and calyx.
  • Attach the glued piece to the top center of the strawberry body.
