Materials

  • Yarn: Onitsuga Yarn Polycherry Polyester Knitting Yarn (Light 3, DK)
  • Hook: 3/0 mm crochet hook
  • Stuffing (Dacron cotton or similar)
  • Key ring
  • Tapestry needle
  • Scissors

Abbreviations

  • ch – chain
  • sc – single crochet
  • sc inc – single crochet increase
  • sc dec – single crochet decrease
  • dc – double crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • (BLO) – back loop only

The Cherry (Make 2 in Red Yarn)

  • R1: 6 sc in a magic circle (6)
  • R2: sc inc in each stitch around (12)
  • R3: [1 sc, inc] repeat around (18)
  • R4–R6: sc around (18)
  • R7: [1 sc, dec] repeat around (12)
  • R8: dec around (6)

  • Stuff the cherry firmly.
  • Sew through the remaining stitches to close and fasten off.

The Stem (Green Yarn)

  • Make a slip knot.
  • ch 13.

  • sl st in the 5th chain from the hook to create a split.
  • ch 8 and fasten off.

The Leaf (Green Yarn)

  • ch 9.
  • Starting in the 2nd chain from the hook: sl st, sc, hdc, 2 dc in next stitch, hdc, sc, sl st.
  • Turn work and repeat the same sequence on the other side of the chain.
  • ch 5, sl st in next stitch, and fasten off.

Assembly

  • Attach the stem ends to the top of each cherry.
  • Sew the leaf at the stem’s center split.

 

  • Attach the key ring to the stem’s top for finishing.
