Materials

  • 4 mm crochet hook

The Foundation Chain

  • Make a slip knot and crochet a foundation chain based on desired size with 31 chains for small, 61 chains for medium, or 91 chains for large

Creating the Base V Stitch Row

  • Add 5 chains after the foundation chain and work one double crochet into the chain you were holding
  • Skip 2 chains and work one double crochet, chain 3, and one double crochet into the same chain to form a V stitch
  • Repeat skip 2 chains and work one double crochet, chain 3, and one double crochet across the entire row
  • Continue until the full row is completed with V stitches

Creating the Petals

  • Turn your work and begin working into the V stitch spaces
  • Work 6 double crochets into each of the first V spaces for small inner petals and secure each petal with one single crochet between V stitches
  • Increase to 8 double crochets in each V space for the middle petals and continue securing with single crochet

  • Work 10 double crochets into each of the final V spaces to create larger outer petals
  • Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing

 

Shaping and Sewing the Rose

  • Roll the strip starting from the smallest petals to form the rose shape
  • Turn the flower over and sew through all layers at the base using the yarn tail to secure the rose
  • Knot tightly and trim excess yarn
  • Add a bead or pearl to the center if desired for decoration
