  • Round 2: Increase in every stitch around (16 stitches)
  • Round 3: One single crochet, one increase repeated around (24 stitches)
  • Rounds 4–6: Single crochet in each stitch around
  • Round 7: Three single crochet, one increase repeated around, change to body color on last stitch (30 stitches)
  • Round 8: Single crochet in each stitch around

Wings

  • Round 9:
  • Single crochet 7 stitches
  • First wing worked in front loops only
  • Slip stitch, chain 1, double crochet in next stitch
  • Triple crochet in next stitch
  • Double crochet, chain 1, slip stitch in next stitch
  • Mark unused back loops
  • Single crochet 11 stitches
  • Repeat the same wing sequence in front loops only
  • Single crochet 6 stitches to finish the round

Body Continuation

  • Round 10: Single crochet in each stitch, working wing stitches into marked back loops
  • Round 11: Single crochet in each stitch around

Tail and Feet

  • Round 12:
  • Tail in front loop only using chain and double crochet combination, mark back loop
  • Single crochet 11 stitches
  • Foot one with a four double crochet bobble stitch in foot color, change back to body color
  • Single crochet 5 stitches
  • Foot two with a four double crochet bobble stitch

Finishing

  • Insert safety eyes between rounds 5 and 6, spaced evenly

  • Round 14: One single crochet, one invisible decrease repeated around (16 stitches)
  • Round 15: Invisible decrease in all stitches (8 stitches)
  • Fasten off and close the opening by weaving through front loops
  • Embroider the beak, blush, and optional crest details as desired
